View Full Version : Henry getting CREDIT after this game?

I'm glad that we won today (it was the perfect trap game after all), but again our D showed what it is capable of, and our passing game made up for a horrendous rushing performance. I agree with others who say that individual TDs are an overrated stat, and here's why: The headline for the Bills' win on Yahoo! Sports is "Henry keys Buffalo rout of Jacksonville" (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/recap?gid=20030914030&prov=ap). I'm not sure which game they were watching, but regardless of how many TD's you score, 26 yards on 21 carries will never be considered "keying" a victory. Credit goes to the rest of the team for getting the ball on the 3 yard line for Henry to punch it in. I love Henry and think the 8 man in the box fronts he's been seeing would contain almost every back in the league, but Bledsoe and the OL protecting him deserve all the offensive credit for this one.

The Jags have one of the best front four in football. You throw in 2 pro bowl LB's and this team knows how to stop the run. We attacked their weakness and thats their secondary.

The Jags do have a very good front 8, and I totally agree with attacking their weakness. However, 26 yards from a guy considered the "key" of this victory is pretty low. Especially on 21 carries.

I vaguely remember hearing some people say that Henry might hit 2000 yards this season...

I have to agree with ajsdx on this one- Jax has some speed but we need more production from a key guy.

If the Bills keep jumping out in front of teams like they did in the first two games, eventually a lack of ability to control the ball is going to catch up.

Take away his THREE Touchdowns from the game...and the score is 17-17.

That is why he was one of the keys to the victory! :D

Geeezzz, we won 31-0 and 38-17. That equals 69-17. What is there to complain about in the offensive scheme?

Make that 31-0 and 38-17, for a total of 69-17!

But our offense sucks; Henry only had 28 yds today. Oh yeah, I forgot, 3 TDs.....

Yeah, it's tough to criticize a guy who scored 3 TD's in one game, but I still think he's going to have to step it up

If Bledsoe went say 12 for 26 w/ 3 td's that were passes to the flat, wouldn't you be concerned about his downfield accuracy? Morris or burns could of scored from inside the 10 yard line so yes there is room for concern. The cold hard truth is Henry did nothing to show why he is a number one back other than 3 short yardage gains that I feel any of the Bills RB's could of made.

I agree with LABillsFan. 3 TD's is great, and it's sometimes tough to punch in those short yardage rush TDs, but still -- there are other backs who could have made those runs, and 26 yards on 21 carries will not cut it late in the game with the Bills protecting a small lead against the Titans' 8 man front. I KNOW Henry can do better, but he just needs to prove it. Donahoe isn't stupid, and McGahee wasn't a mistake.

No one said our offense sucks but our running game sure did. We run like that in December and we'll lose every time.
