Fearsome as a player. Loathsome as a person.

The Dolphins defensive backs will bring those opinions to their coverage of Eric Moulds, Pro Bowl receiver and noted nemesis, when they play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night at Pro Player Stadium.

Last season, cornerback Patrick Surtain said Moulds spit in his face, and that led to a costly personal foul against Surtain in the Dolphins' 38-21 loss.

''I lost all respect for him,'' Dolphins safety Brock Marion said of Moulds. ''What more can I say? If I spit on you, aren't you going to lose all respect for me? He's still a good player, but that's not called for in this game.''

http://www.miami.com/mld/miami/6789508.htm?tbd6789508.htm

Sorry, I'm not buying it. Moulds has never had character issues before and until someone can prove something, the crybaby dolfins DBs can get over it or get burned.

Moulds:

''He'll [Marion] see me on Sunday. I'll be getting on the plane, I'll be on the bus to the stadium, I'll have No. 80 on. He knows how to find me.''

Jeez, these guys really are crybabies:

Moulds always seems to be a hot point of Dolphins-Bills games. In the game at Buffalo last season, Moulds scored a back-breaking 57-yard touchdown off a pass that was tipped by cornerback Sam Madison.

Madison was in good position for an interception before the wind took the ball at the final moment. Moulds and former Buffalo receiver Peerless Price mocked Madison.

Awww....the poor crybaby dolphins DBs got mocked.

Did you see the quotes in that article? Bunch of wusses.

-----------------

And I'll tell you exactly why he's claiming Moulds spit on him. It's because that's the only acceptable way he could justify taking a swing at Moulds and costing the fins momentum in that game. He had to make something up and there's nothing worse than spitting in someone's face.

I think it's funny that Surtain, the one it supposedly happened to sat down and had a beer with Eric in the offseason, but Marion is the one bringing it up. That's because Surtain knows it didn't happen.

If it hadn't drawn a personal foul that helped determine the outcome fo the game, I'm sure it wouldn't have drawn any attention at all. And what fans need to realize is that it's not like the players called Ethan Skolnik and asked him to write an article. The writer asked the questions, abd they answered them. If you want to jump on anyone, jump on the author.

I don't think there were talking about the article with regards to the spitting incident. They were referring to the quotes from Marion. And yes, you can directly attribute that to the Dolphins organization. The more fuel you add, the better the fire. I hope Marion keeps on running his pie hole!

Here are the quotes...

''I lost all respect for him,'' Dolphins safety Brock Marion said of Moulds. ''What more can I say? If I spit on you, aren't you going to lose all respect for me? He's still a good player, but that's not called for in this game.''

''You know what the guy did. I'm not going to cheap-shot him because of it. I'm going to play football straight up.

''We have to contend with him making plays. But the fact of the matter is that what he did . . . you can't respect anybody like that.''

...if the author asks Marion if he still respects Moulds, what should Marion have said? This is why this is such a stupid thread...there isn't a person here who wouldn't have said at LEAST what Marion said.

Yeah...sports writers wait for phonecalls from players so they can write their stories. Skolnik either caled the players, or coralled them at practice. That's what they do. As for education, I went to Nova High school here in South Florida, and UCONN. I'm sure that Nova means about as much to you as WNY means to me, but I can safely tell you that we consistantly kicked 'Cuse's butts on the basketball court when I went to UCONN...:peace:

This was found all over the Miami locker room, players were spreading it on each other for its "restorive and cleansing properties".

When you say I'm wrong on this issue, does that mean you think that Surtain and Marion DID initiate the article? Conversely, do you think this type of thing is NOT a creation of a jounalist looking to stir the pot?

Perhaps it was EMo's speed, zipping past your DB's that caused the ball to shift in the wind. Did the sports writer see that?

Actually...if you'll go look at the post I innitiated, it's in no way inflamatory or even confrontational. This thread however was inherently confrontational from it's inception. It attacked Dolphins players, and I responded to it. As such, while I may have jumped into a fight, I've yet to start one.

Lol...maybe. If so, that's his failing, and not Marions or Surtains. In his opinion, that's how it looked. Bottom line is that journalists create these conflicts, not the players. Part of the players contract states that they have to be "available" to the media, and that means that they can't give a "no comment" as often as some of them would like. I'd say the same thing if a Phins fan was jumping all over a Bills player who was quoted as complaining about a Phin players behavior.

To know the wind changed at the last min. You would have to be looking at the wind socks on the uprights AND the ball at the same time. I think that is pretty much impossible.

I was in that endzone, row 5..it happened right in front of me. Plain and simple...Moulds had Surtain beat by a step, the ball was slightly underthrown, Surtain got a little piece of it and tipped it right into EMo's hands. It was a very alert play for EMo to catch the ball....wind was not a big factor behind that play.

Phinphan, did you see who wrote that story? Jason Cole, a writer for the MIAMI HERALD. Not an AP writer, a MIAMI HERALD writer, another words, its a homer article. Of course hes gonna give a biased opinon on what happened and the ball "magically" changing directions in that 1/16th of a second when marion tipped the ball, which is total BS. Im not sure if you saw that game, but i remember seeing many different replays of that play and the ball did not change directions. I can not believe this writer had the gaul to use the word "lothesome" to refer to Moulds as a person. This man has probably never met Eric and has never seen his character. This is a ridiculous article and a ridiculous journalist.

And? Does he work for the Dolphins franchise? If you want to jump on someone...jump on the author. The players were asked questions and they answered them. Personally I have nothing against Moulds. If Surtian or Marion do it's because of a perceived slight. Quite honestly I'm sure Moulds believes he did nothing wrong, and I'm sure Surtain and Marion believe he did. That's the nature of conflict. But if this writer didn't drag this crap up, than it would have been dealt with on the field where it bleongs, and not on this thread or this board where it doens't.

No it's not defending him. It's pointing out that if he makes the comment in HIS article that the wind carried the ball out of Surtains hands, that's HIS opinion. It's not mine or the players...it's HIS. Further, it's an OPINION!! That doesn't make it right OR wrong, and I've made no statement one way or the other. I've neither defended nor attacked his opinion on that PLAY. I have however repeatedly attacked him for writing the article in the first place. Look, there's noting wrong with drinking while typing...but don't look at your screen through beer goggles...it's just not pretty!!:shake:

So, in other words, in the absence of verification from Marion (regarding the phantom wind) the author of the article made it up? If that's the case, what's the point in defending such a licenscious opinion from some hack? What need did this same hack fulfill for the Phin Phateful? The author's OPINION can not explain what actually happened. All it does is provide an excuse for a failure; an excuse that seems to mollify a great many of you down there.
