SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- The Baltimore Ravens will be without their "franchise" player for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers.

The Ravens on Saturday benched starting cornerback Chris McAlister for Sunday's game due to an unspecified violation of team rules.



The Baltimore Sun is reporting that McAlister missed curfew on Thursday night and skipped Friday morning's team meeting. He reported back just as the team was prepared to leave the hotel for practice and was notified by coach Brian Billick that he would not accompany the team for the rest of the weekend....

Good. Maybe he will realize that even though he's a "franchise" player, he'll still be held accountable for his actions. Now if only ALL the teams would do the same.
