FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Derrick Brooks is one of Warrick Dunn's closest friends, yet Dunn wasn't around to see Brooks put the ultimate pewter-and-red exclamation mark on his 2002 Defensive Player of the Year and world-championship season.
Dunn left Super Bowl XXXVII early.
"Had to," he said. "It was getting crazy."
Well before the final gun sounded to end Tampa Bay's resounding 48-21 blowout of the Oakland Raiders last Jan. 26 in San Diego, Dunn was done with Qualcomm Stadium. Seems the Buccaneers fans were getting out of hand; and not just getting caught up in the euphoria of their 27-year wait for a title....
