The National Football League and NFL Players Association are nearing implementation of drastic new program that will dramatically upgrade the league's medical care for players.
The NFL Today and SportsLine.com have learned the two sides are on the verge of instituting a wide-ranging program called "The Medical Bill of Rights."
The league-wide program, which has been in negotiations for nearly three years, regulates a series of medical options and upgrades, including: implementing trauma doctors at games and/or practices; enhanced transportation in case of emergency; a uniformed list of the top specialists in each area of the country for players to use as second opinions; and the ability for players to get medical records immediately. ...more
