 Who do you think was the better /worse Bills QB? Rob Johnson or Todd Collins? :drunks:

In my eyes....

Better: Rob Johnson

Worse: Todd Collins

I'll take RJ any day. Although he was a bigger dissapointment, he was clearly the better.

Ughhh!! You had to bring up both of their names in the same thread??

RJ without a doubt. He cost us a first round pick and mega cash (read salary cap space) and NEVER lived up to it. Todd Collins was thrown at the wolves too early and suffered from the high standards of his predecessor, Jim Kelly. Collins was only really given one season to prove himself and had a 'few moments'. He lead us back against Dallas if I recall correctly. How many seasons/chances was RJ given? 3? 4?

RJ is like the engine of a pinto being in the body of a corvette. It looks good, but it runs like *****.

Should have made this thread a "poll". I have to agree with Shadow.

Joe Dufek was better than Todd Collins

Who cares? They both really sucked and thankfully are both gone. Put the past behind you. Look forward tot he future of Bledsoe.

I'll reserve judgement on RJ until after this season. There is no comparison between RJ and Collins however. More hate directed at RJ even though he's gone maybe...?

Career:

Collins: 54.9%, 3,258 yards, 6.2 YPA, 16 TDs, 19 INTs | 62 carries for 149 yards 0 TDs

RJ: 61.0 %, 5,166 yards, 7.4 YPA, 29 TDs, 20 INTs | 123 carries for 796 yards and 4 TDs

Not really a close comparison at all. Unless of course sacks and wins become your sole source for comparison...

;)

If wins are all that matter, then Garcia blows too. He's less than .500 at 21-24. If sacks are all that matter, we're not gonna be any better off w/ Bledsoe other than the OL being better.

now i know why i converted from BBI...I missed WYS's stats. Stats never lie.:p:

I would like to remind everyone else the question was who was the worst, not the most dissapointing and as WYS points out, RJ was def. better.

While both are my children, I did give Todd Collins other special gifts. Had he chosen another path in life, he would have been a Hall of Fame florist.

Some choose to use God's gifts, others go a different route.

please... neither of those were the worst...
I got 2 words for ya...

Rob was better, but I don't know if I would take him over Collins if I had to choose between the two. Rob has NEVER gone through a season without getting injured, although I know I don't have to remind everyone about that.

JefftheBillsfan
07-21-2002, 04:36 PM
Yeah, Billy Joe is def. worse than either of them

I never saw a Bills QB miss receivers by as much as Todd Collins did. I mean this guy's throws would be 10 yards off. At least RJ could deliver the ball.

At least when RJ is in there you get a good game 2/3 of the time.

Collins had all of RJ's weaknesses and then some.

Yeah, Hobert was the worst. Hadn't even looked at the playbook!

All John Butler finds as well, all three of them.
And Hobert and Johnson both cost us draft choices to boot.
BTW Wys, congrats on your suace, I'll have to try it sometime!

LOL@BillsNYC

I'd take RJ over TC any day though. They can both suck, but RJ actually has an upside...

i don't want to answer the question cuz i will hate my answer and don't want to give wys the satisfaction

Todd Collins was only given 1 chance to prove himself. Rob Johnson was given 4 chances to prove himself.

Without a doubt RJ sucked more.

AWESOME TD!!!

Shiny Chicken
07-21-2002, 10:26 PM
TD, based on that, yeah, RJ would suck more... but if it came down to it and I had to make a choice between the tw, it's RJ, no contest

Todd Collins played in 21 games total (96&97) as a Bufffalo Bill. 16 TDs 18 Int. 3106 yards. 270 of 490 complete. 50 sacks, 1 per 9.8 times dropped back to pass.

Rob Johnson played in 29 games, 401 of 663 for 4798 yards, 27 TDs, 17 Int. 110 sacks, 1 for every 6 times dropped back.

Rob Johnson played with alot more better talent then Todd Collins did and his numbers are only slightly better. Rob played with the #1Defense in the league and with young talent like Eric Moulds around him.

Todd Collins was playing with a old team. Thurman Thomas,Andre Reed didn,t have it anymore. Not to mention he was replacing the best QB in Bills history.

RJ was better...

now how long before all the RJ and DF threads go away?

Remeber how Collins would just throw the ball up in the air so he could avoid being hit. At least RJ knew to hold on, and wasn't scared to take a hit.
I'm happy that we don't have to worry about either one again.
Let's Go Bledsoe!!!

Personally, my vote would be for Kay Stevenson. He gets bonus points for being a horrible coach too. And for being named Kay.

Ok. Is it me or are we just so bored we have to resort to discussing Todd Collins?

RJ was the bigger dissappointment. But he was a better quarterback than Collins.

Collins had Andre Reed AND Eric Moulds, Thurman, and an O-Line only two years removed from a Super Bowl that they dominated for 2 quarters. He was THE worst QB I've ever seen. Granted, RJ was a big disappointment, but given the right situation (an O-line that could block a fat girl) he still has the physical tools and toughness, if not the smarts, to be a serviceable NFL starter.
Todd Collins was also given several chances in KC, where he couldn't even compete for the #2 job on a team where the QB stench could be smelled from outer space. He is perhaps the most compelling argument that John Butler was a mere bystander to Polian and Levy's success with the Bills in the 90's.

Collins at least has one positive claim to fame, he hooked up with (believe it or not) Quin Early for the longest passing TD in Bills history (1996 against the Colts, a 95 yard scoring strike out of the end zone).

Does any one know if Johnson has any positive records?

In my opinion Collins was the lesser of two evils, as with Johnson he was extremely physically gifted, but not the most intelligent apple in the barrel, but did show that he could be semi-directed in a neanderthal sort of way. Johnson on the other hand, feigned intelligence but never seemed to learn from his mistakes.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. That pass to Early had far more to do with Early's run-after-catch than Collins' passing skills.
Collins lost his starting job, while healthy, TWICE to AVP. He wasn't even capable of "feigning intelligence". When a deer makes fun of another deer, he says that that deer looked like "Collins in the headlights."

argh...can we just end it now and get rid of these guys.

Sorry, Eb, but I never miss a chance to bash Todd (or "Scrod"; that was literally his nickname in college). Even when he was drafted, I saw him as the antithesis of Jim Kelly, and he turned out to be exactly that.
