The Buffalo Sabres take to the road today for a preseason two-game weekend swing through Montreal and Chicago. Three players will be heading to Rochester instead.
The Sabres on Friday assigned forward Michael Ryan and defensemen Doug Janik and Ryan Jorde to the Rochester Americans. Each of the three played in one exhibition game this month and failed to record a point. The moves left the team with 33 players on the roster.

The Sabres' third game of the exhibition season is 7 tonight in Montreal against the Canadiens. The Sabres then head to Chicago for a 7 p.m. game Sunday against the Blackhawks.

The Sabres' first "home" game of the preseason is 7 p.m. Thursday against the Blackhawks in Blue Cross Arena in Rochester. They make their first appearance in HSBC Arena at 7 p.m. next Saturday against Williamsville native Todd Marchant and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
