1-3: 10-20 DEN home, 20-23 at OAK, 10-17 PGH, 21-14 at CLE.

Watched 'em for 4 games this season and the last 12 seasons.

QB Kitna:

Heady. Gamer. Small hands -a shame. 4 rush td last year. Takes off in the middle and tries to get 1st down. Good decision skills. Like most, susceptible to big interior rush. Rolls right. Has put up good numbers this year. In a big surprise, Mr. Potatoe Head (Mike Brown) ok'd $1 mill bonus for Kitna despite missing contract trigger regarding # of snaps (missed it by one). NOTE:Have seen him several times rush down field to take a snap to avoid a replay - he knew he'de better get down there before a replay occured - Bills staff watch this guy if that happens and throw the red flag please.

GRADE C+

Other QB's: Dunno. Shane Matthews played only a bit in preseason. #1Carson Pamer - sweet passer. 2 - 3 td passes in PS but I think 3 - 4 equally sweet pickoffs in preseason. They seem "commited" not to turn him into a Akili Smith/David Klingler debacle.

WR - Thin depth. #1 back-up TJ Houshmamdzadeh (boy that was tough typing) has been out all season. Chad Jonshon seems to be primarily a sideline threat - good speed, hands and feet - I'm waithing for the injury report -he left early 3rd qtr against CLE.

P. Warrick: Shifty SOB. They bang him hard in the press and fans - 4 years: 51 - 73 - 53 catches + 16 this year. Dunno why. He;s quite good after the catch...they run 'em a lot over the middle. If he can gain speed laterally, watch out. Also has been fairly successful in the end-around.

Depth..not much. Lawrence Hamilton (roookie FA pickup) and #3 [pick Kelley Washington - with a head-case rewputation but so far ok. Only have 4 wr's on current squad.

GRADE B

TE - Matt Shoeble (Aaron's brother injured -hammie). Picked up Reggie Kelly FA from ATL. Kelly has some moves, so far no really bad blocking faults. 3rd TE is Tony Stewert..plays 5 -6 downs per game so far.

Shobel probably won't play (Ham) . Otherwise, pretty much an over-the-middle guy.

GRADE C-

OL - Last year 1st rounder LT Levi Jones will likely play a long time in NFL. RT Willie Anderson but gettin' on - NOT helped like many Bengals by the sorry sorry sorry turf at the home field...strains, puls etc. It's like a beach volleyball fiels with green paint on it. CheapoCheapoCheapo.

QB has a bit better decision time than last (2-14) year.

LG Erik Steinbeck is the real deal. Bengals have a bunch of rg and center issues. Matt O'Dywer seems washed up.

GRADE C+

RB - Dillons banged up -see above for turf problems causing injury. Probably won't play against Bflo. Otherwise, his record speaks volumns..pops out of a pile like a you-know-what in a bathtub. Excellent speed and almost always recognizes a QB in duress and comes back for an outlet .

The others are Brandon Bennett and Rudi Johnson. Bennett is not much but has fair hands. Johnson kinda slow to the hole but has good block presence IMH0. Bennett is the main KR; jsually straight line but given a crack he'll fly.

FB - Let Lorenzo Neal go in off-season for a paltry $1 mill (man aren't things relative?). Have a rookie Jeremi Johnson and a guy named Chris Edmonds. They miss Neal.

GRADE B (respect for Dillon otherwise C)

OFFENSIVE STRATEGY -IMHO:

Tend to run same plays until they blow up...although a more varied game was called in week vs CLE. Quick outs, slants, 2 to 3 screens and draws, at least 1 end around seem to be pretty much part of the stock-in-trade.

Offensive decisiveness quite a bit better this year.

Have been equal or better in time of posession in 3 of 4 games this year. Have had 2 to 4 5 -8 minute drives per game in all gamesthis year.
GRADE: I'm not capable of grading an off scheme by any means..

I;l l run down the def and ST in subsuquent posts.
