He still has a rookie exemption.

I agree. Begin is the kind of guy that could possibly be claimed, though I believe that any team that claims someone has to expose another player? So, teams have to really want someone to claim them.

Begin is a very serviceable fourth line type player and a great agitator/little tough guy to boot. He's the only guy I see potentially being claimed.

Red Wings kept Hasek and Legace, and left Joseph out there- hoping someone takes him off their hands- similar to Chris Osgood 2 seasons ago when Hasek arrived.

Interesting- Pavel Bure of the Rangers available.....Sabres need a 10 million plus a year forward? LOL......

Indeed. I thought that Begin was to be on our 4th line. :huh:

I hope he doesn't get claimed.

I hope so, too. If he does, we pluck a potential fourth liner off someone else or bring up Paul Gaustad.

rumor has it that the Canadians organization would have been "gooned up" by jose theodore's family if he wasn't on the protected list.:snicker:

The Sabres should look at the following in my opinion:
Mariusz Czerkawski - Montreal
Matt Davidson - Calgary
Chris Therien - Philadelphia
Travis Green, Harold Druken - Toronto

Chris Therien would bring more physical presence on the blueline but he's slower than petrified wood :shakeno: He could be a serviceable #7 or #8 D-Man if Darcy could swing a deal for another D

I would have put Connolly on the waiver list :snicker:

There isn't much out there that is of much interest to me. I was interested in whether or not the Flyers would protect Todd Fedoruk, and they did. That's about it.

I doubt anyone will take a chance on him, even though he is still good enough to play well

Czerkawski just needs a good line, his potential is still there. More than Connolly if anything. I would give a 3rd for him, and I bet he would be readily available for that. Just put him with a Kotalik and Afinogenov and he would soar. Ive followed his career. If he had the faith that the staff is giving to Tim Connolly he would be amazing. No one shows any faith. Thats it, so he has low self esteem
