As difficult as it might be, Edgerrin James won't allow history to repeat itself.
The veteran running back was a bystander Sunday night in the Superdome as the Indianapolis Colts humbled New Orleans 55-21. He still was feeling the effects of a sore back.
A year ago, it would have taken a broken back to keep him off the field.
But that was then.
"I would have played last year, hands down," said James, whose status for Monday night's prime-time showdown with defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay won't be known until later this week. "But I don't want this to linger.
