Alstott agravated a neck injury in the Buccaneers' 38-35 overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Mike Alstott of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will miss the rest of the season with a neck injury.

The fullback aggravated the injury in the Buccaneers' 38-35 overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night.

Alstott, a six-time Pro Bowl player, was placed on injured reserve and might undergo surgery.

"This is a terrible blow to our football team," coach Jon Gruden said. "Mike Alstott is a great leader and a great player. We are counting on him coming back even better next year. We will miss him, but we have to step up."

Cornerback Brian Kelly is listed as doubtful for Sunday because of a strained left pectoral, and receiver Keyshawn Johnson is questionable because of a bruised left thigh that kept him from playing in overtime against the Colts.

But the news wasn't all bad.

It was just after 11 Wednesday morning, the time when Mike Alstott normally would be finishing another walk-through and elbowing teammates for position in the sandwich line just outside the locker room at One Buc Place.

Next to the afternoon practice and lifting weights, it's the part of the day Alstott has enjoyed the most for eight seasons. There's a spirit of camaraderie, the excitement of getting a new gameplan and preparing to sweat, bleed and win together at the highest level of football.

Alstott loves it all. He is the A-Train, unrelenting and unstoppable.
