Giants Call On Conway As Kicker

NFL kickers are supposed to be able to last forever, but they come and go rather suddenly around the Giants. They brought another one into the fold yesterday, signing Brett Conway to replace injured Matt Bryant.

Conway, 28, has been with four NFL teams (including the Jets briefly in 2000) since coming into the league out of Penn State in 1998. His most extensive experience came during two separate stays with the Redskins, where Conway was the regular place-kicker all season in 1999 and 2001. He's 55 of 72 on field goals in his career (76.4 percent) and 83 of 84 on extra points.

Conway performed solidly in a tryout yesterday at Giants Stadium, where he competed with Jeff Chandler, Jose Cortez, Danny Boyd and Neil Rackers, all of whom have some NFL experience
