Do you even have to think about this one, Darryl? It's a no brainer.
If you don't go to church, God, Allah, Yahweh, the Sun God, or whoever else you pray to, won't smite you.
But if you miss the Sabres season opener...the hockey gods sure as heck will.

I'm watching the Atlanta feed on Centre Ice right now. I want to see what they do for Dan during the pregame. To me, it's more important than the Buffalo game right now.

First game notes:
Fitzpatrick. I can't say enough about this guy. He's solid, sturdy, and dependable. He has two superb blocks in the first and probably prevented a sure goal in the first 2 minutes of play.
Kalinin looks really strong and made some smart decisions.
Mckee had a couple decent hits and was trying to use the body. Good to see.
Briere was buzzing for the first ten minutes and created a bunch of quality chances. He's a very deceptive player.
The first line was a little invisible this game.
Peters had a good hit on Brashear, and then Ruff stopped playing him. That's disapointing.
All around, the team seemed to backcheck really, really well. That's good to see.
Max Afinogenov is damn fast. He smoked two defenseman and set up his own play. Too bad he's so fast that he gets herky jerky.
Not a bad period at all (except the atrocious PP).
I'd like to see a little more hitting and Peters flex some muscle.

Anyone else having problems with the feed blacking out for a sec then coming back and blinking and blacking out and coming back periodically,
I Guess the Providers are making it free cuz they have to work the bugs out,

Andy Delmore is as advertised...defensively inept. He made more stupid plays on that 4 on 4 than Connolly would have. And he was standing around two times when he had a chance at the puck.

He knew what he was doing. He knew before this game Peters wanted a piece of him.
So he kept his gloves on and got his team a penalty minute.
Some would call it a smart move, but I hate that tactic. If it wasn't for the instigator rule, Peters could have wailed on him ; )Then Brashear would have been forced to punch back, thus earning himself the same 5 minutes in the box.

He knows the tactic.
He just got excited at a crack at Brashear, and Donald didn't want any of it. Apparently, he thinks he's a player now.

Good game so far, both teams are playing well but Philly is owning the neutral zone...
Sabres are being smart and taking advantage of Phillys mistakes as both Afinogenov and Briere had great scoring chances on turned over Flyer pucks...
Flyers are also playing smart with big shots on Miller on the breakaway and the one that cranked off the post, Miller is playing strong and this team needs him to continue to do so...

He also had one of the few shots on goal that period. I thought he looked alright out there. He skated well and took the body on a bunch of occasions.
Then he got too caught up in the moment. He should have let Brashear go after the first penalty.

Alas, although we can't blame the loss solely on the officials, they played a big part in the game. There shouldn't have been a power play on that 2nd one. It should've been 4-on-4.

He did get back in there. What a champ. He wasn't about to let that keep him down. I was scared as Hell, though, after the hit. That was some chump crap, though. I hope Primeau gets his when we play the Flyers again this year. Let's see how Primeau does after a Marchment-esque hit from someone. :evil:

NHL and ESPN Both Said Philly Was Gonna have the Best Defensive Team in the League, So Far they looked Good,
Hackett will keep getting shutouts if the defense only lets the Oppisition shoot 4 shots on him per period.
Ryan Miller was Fantastic,
Our Defense Looked Like the Mighty Ducks from the Moooovie,
Falling down everywhere, chasing the puck like 5 years olds leaving the pointmans open Etc.
Lindy Needs to Change his Strategy from Defense First, Specially if the Defense Is Young Liek ours, we need to shoot first ask questions later strategy, its hard to score when you play 70% of the Game on defense.

Ryan Miller looked confident last night. I did not see the flopping around that he was constantly doing last year. Hopefully he is the answer in goal and the decision to make him #1 is made rather quickly.
Its the first game, calm down.
When we won our first two games people were so sure we were going to be amazing, and look what happen.
Maybe if we get spanked next game, we will do the opposite of last year and win alot!

Well, what can I say? We were beaten by a better quality team in their place. We blew our chance to take a stranglehold on this game in the first period, and it went downhill from there. I was really dissapointed in our special teams, more so the powerplay. But, to be optimistic, no goals came from open play. I thought Miller was solid, and should start Saturday. The one thing that dertermines if I like a goalie or not is if they make me comfortable. Ryan did that last night, but Biron makes me a nervous wreck. I really liked Drury's toughness. I loved it when he threw down that scumbag Roenick to the ice after he took a cheap shot on Chris. I really think he should wear the "C".
Hey guys just as JD said, remember when we destroyed Montreal and the Isles in the opening two games? Remeber where the season went from there? Don't be so quick to pass judgement, I'm still confident this team is going to the playoffs.
That said, on to the arena, and to the routing of the Islanders!!!
