BTW, I appreciate everyone's enthusiasm and posts, but lets not turn this into a 'bash the NFL' thread.. Yeah it sucks, and we never made a dime off of them (or anything else on the site for that matter), but they are completely within their rights to make this request. Copyright issues are such a big deal right now with the RIAA, movie industry, etc., that the NFL is just protecting their own interests and property.

Yet another reason I refuse to buy any NFL merchandise. When the NFL gets over this GOD complex and quits picking on the little guy, I may consider buying a team jersey or another official NFL product. Until then, I'll let my money do the talking!!!

i can see if they offered a similar product some where and they were losing money because of these vids but NO ONE makes highlight videos available any where......this is such crap!

While I'm dissapointed- I can see where the NFL is coming from.



They do have to draw a line somewhere. If this site and others like it had to fully comply, we would have to fork over tens of thousands of dollars in rights fees just to use the logo.

As far as their stance on videos- it would be much more difficult to go after infringement cases (someone selling illegal videos- or use of Bills / NFL logos in inappropriate places) so they protect that part of the business that much harder.

To take the example to a ridiculous extreme, what is to prevent someone from making a porn movie about the Buffalo Bills Cheerleaders using all their logos, designs, and using their name? So- we ran with it as long as we could.

Just seems counter productive to me. Sites like ours with all our loyal fans who attend games and buy all the overpriced merchandise are what pay the bills for the NFL. What point does it serve to play the heavy hand and alienate "customers"?

Heck, we provide the best advertising for them they can possibly get....IT'S FREE!!! Oh well, it's their loss in the end. Less airtime for their product. It won't affect us in the least.
