Jeff Backus knows some Detroit Lions fans are saying, 'Here they go again,' when they see their team at 1-4.
Detroit won only one of its first five games last season, and two of the final 11. In 2001, the Lions started 0-12 and finished 2-14.
Like the past two seasons, the Lions have lost close games and have been hurt by injuries.
While this season, under new coach Steve Mariucci, appears strikingly similar to the past two, Backus insists its different.
