    Brunell has surgery

Jaguars veteran quarterback Mark Brunell suffered another setback yesterday when he underwent surgery to repair the bursa sac in his ailing left elbow that has sidelined him for the last three games.
Brunell, who already lost his starting job to rookie Byron Leftwich after injuring the elbow in the third game at Indianapolis, will be out a "few weeks," according to coach Jack Del Rio.

Leigh Steinberg, Brunell's agent, called it minor surgery on the bursa sac to stop the spread of infection that had prevented the elbow from healing.

"This is not a medical term, but they cleaned it out," he said.

Steinberg said that Brunell will be out "three-to-six weeks."

The surgery was performed at Baptist Medical Center by the head team physician, Carlos Tandron.

Del Rio said that the Jaguars will go with two quarterbacks -- Leftwich and David Garrard -- and that there are no plans to end Brunell's season by putting him on the injured reserve list.
