These decisions aren't easy. The really painful ones, they reside in the belly, churning in the early hours, causing worry lines and stealing pounds.
For a coach, opting to bench a starter - especially a star, especially the diligent quarterback - is one of the toughest, even when the move is in the player's best interest, not to mention that of the team. No one likes to say, "This is going to hurt me more than it hurts you," even if it's true.
Maybe Andy Reid should consider it.
