Bucs Add Fullback, Pick Up Cecil Martin

TAMPA - The Bucs added a fullback to their injury-depleted offense Tuesday.
A week after placing Pro Bowl fullback Mike Alstott on injured reserve and ending his season, the Bucs signed former Philadelphia Eagle Cecil Martin to a one-year contract.

With Alstott out, the Bucs were left with only two fullbacks: Jameel Cook was elevated to starter and Darian Barnes became his backup.

Linebacker Justin Smith was released from the 53-man roster to make room for Martin and signed to the practice squad. Running back Travis Stephens, re-signed last week, was released from the practice squad.

Martin played in Philadelphia from 1999-2002 and was primarily used as a blocker for running back Duce Staley. He signed with Oakland in the offseason as an unrestricted free agent but was released before the start of the season.
