    Romo hit by lawsuit

Seven weeks after viciously punching his teammate in the face during practice, Raiders linebacker Bill Romanowski was sued by Raiders tight end Marcus Williams on Thursday in Alameda County Superior Court, accused of battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence.

No specific damage claim was made in the nine-page civil complaint, but the attorney for Williams, James Brosnahan, conceded he is treading into groundbreaking territory by asking for compensatory damages, medical and related expenses, any lost past or future earnings, exemplary and punitive damages as well as court costs for a practice-field scuffle between two NFL teammates.

Romo should have to pay. He's lucky he's not in jail.

      Steroids.

Why did Williams wait 7 weeks to file charges?

I think it was an "unofficial" agreement with the team to see if the league was going to do anything... or maybe it was an "unofficial" agreement with the league while waiting to see what the team was going to do.......

          Suit is just another twist

Raiders players weigh in on Williams versus Romanowski
If the news of Marcus Williams suing Bill Romanowski over injuries sustained in a summertime training-camp fight came as a curiosity to the public, just think how it went down in the Raiders' locker room. Already grappling with a 2-4 record and the daunting task of playing the smoking-hot, undefeated Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night at the Coliseum, the Raiders can only view the Williams-Romanowski lawsuit as another layer to the weird, difficult saga that has been their season.

"If it's not one thing," sighed defensive tackle Dana Stubblefield on Friday, "it's another."

For his part, Stubblefield straddled the fence on taking sides in the playing field-***-courtroom imbroglio.

            Williams seeks justice team denied

So, maybe that wasn't your run-of-the-mill, overheated training-camp scrap after all.

Maybe a fine, a seat during practice (practice?) and a stern talking-to weren't enough to settle the issue. Maybe an apology, as sincerely as it was delivered, wasn't quite placating enough. Maybe more than some low-volume, behind-closed-doors words of support were required to ease the pain, physical, psychological and otherwise.

Maybe Marcus Williams just wasn't feeling a burst of charity or forgiveness in his heart -- understandable, since it wasn't that part of his body that was shattered, swollen and throbbing with pain.
