NEW YORK—The NFL said yesterday that it would begin testing players for a previously unidentified and undetectable steroid, in an effort to avoid the kind of scandal that has rocked professional track and field this week.

Story (http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1066517109265&call_pageid=968867503640&col=970081593064)

This is big, folks. Once the track stars are outed then the finger will point to NFL, MLB, NHL, etc.

It'll be interesting if the NFL just does it's standard smokescreen: i.e. throw up a few rookie scrub players each year for sacrifice, so that they don't have to admit widespread use...

Given the last 4 week's performance, I don't think the league will bother testing the bills :D

Can this steroid be legally purchased in the US?

I think the NFL will give a "grace period" similar to the way that MLB did in order to let players go clean and get it out of their systems. Notice how the HR #'s have really tailed off since MLB institituted their grace period ? Nobody loses face or their careers, etc., but after the grace period is up, hoo boy if you get caught, be prepared to be the media whipping boy that'll make Kobe look like a choirboy.

I was being sarcastic. I hope he gets caught. Anyone who uses performance enhancing drugs and attributes it to 'Hard work' shoule be exposed. So I guess I care.

I don't think the NFL has specifically added THG to their list of banned substances, but that is just a matter of working through the bureaucracy IMO. It sounds to me like this has been caught fairly early. There will be some who are caught, particularly in track where it looks like it started, but I don't think it will amount to more than one or two players per team on average.
