View Full Version : Pass Rush: How Do We Fix It THIS Season?

I wonder if it would help to start blitzing from the corners or the safety position more. I have seen it used a few times, but what if we were to blitz a bit more? It couldn't hurt. Any other suggestions?

Thank you RRICH! Someone who understands that teams can get better in season, not just in the off season!

Leave the opponents receivers uncovered as they run their routes and rush 11 guys. That might have some flaws  but, no guarantees, it might generate a pass rush from this D.

Put 9 on the line...

Corner blitz and drop our LB's back in coverage (and pray they can handle the assignments).

Lets put Drew Bledsoe on the defensive line. He's the best in the NFL when it comes to getting sacks.

Whatever happened to LeBeau's signature Zone Blitz and Fire Zone??? I have yet to see our guys swarming QBs under LeBeau.

Hey Gregg Williams explained the firezone when Dante Hall caught that TD pass saying "we were in a firezone and not using coverage technique"....lmao!!!!! :fab:

They were sending everything but the kitchen sink at Trent Green last Sunday and still couldn't get to him, ultimately paying the price for it by giving up big play after big play. That is what is so discouraging...when they send everyone they still can't generate any kind of a pass rush.:wail:

It all starts with good push from the front four which we have absolutely none of.:shakeno:

Now that's revolutionary WM!! LOL

Interesting how GW and Gray/LeBeau haven't figured that one out yet, eh! LOL

Or the Ss.

And we wonder why we're doing poorly. This tremendous "wealth" of NFL experience and we're not doing this much at all. Funny!

I don't why you find any of this so hilarious. We're losing and it's not funny. Any real Bills fan would be upset.

People want to promote Laboe to head coach!?

I'm still wondering where the genius zone blitzing schemes are!

I guess I could classify myself right now as a "bitter optimist". I still believe they can win, meaning the pieces are in place to be competitive, but they have to use them right. So far, they're not, thus the bitterness.

Drew and Rob Johnson together; then we'll lead the league in sacks, huh (haha!!)?

Simply because LeBeau is ASSISTANT HC doesn't necessarily mean that GW has to REALLY listen to him.

GW: "Yeah, Dick. That's a GREAT IDEA!" (aside to JG: Keep up the good work! *wink* Just keep doing what you're doing! *wink**wink*)

Exactly. All the schemes and gimmicks in the world will not work if you don't have at least one pass rusher on your D line.

I tend to disagree with you there, Jan. I'm not saying that you can make your way through the schedule on just schemes and gimmicks, but to say that you can't be productive with them is not right. Now, we do need an upgrade in talent along the line, there's no question about that. Still, I think we can get by until then with some adjustments here and there. I'm not saying it will turn these guys into sack specialists, but with some proper coaching, they could at least be able to put pressure on a QB more often than they do.

I think the DL are two-gapping themselves to death.

Has anyone noticed that our linesmen never get their hands up in the air when it's a pass? I don't think I saw a single hand go up to try an block/deflect a pass against KC. It's almost like our guys are sitting back so the QB doesn't scramble.

Is this because our defensive line is so run orientated?

Interesting point. I've only seen Mia-Cin-Kc tv games and am not likely to see any more. But I don't recall a swat in any of those. It looks like they're playing a strict follow-the rules-and-don't-deviate defense. :idunno:

One of the problems is that our defense is on the field so much that they just start getting lazy ecpecially when the score is 35-5. We need a real pass rush, and if the people that they have in there are not going to get at the qb take them out, put km in for denney. start putting the smack down and lighting fires under some a$$'s!

You said it! I get so tired of the seemingly pre-programmed rhetoric from OBD after each game. They should fine anyone from the organization who uses the overused phrases like "we have to execute better..." or "we just need to make plays...". I'm so tired of that!

Haven't we gotten sacks off of the zone blitzes? Proileau/Feltcher. Milloy on Brady? Problem is you can't do that all the time. Teams eventually read into it. Besides Gray makes the calls on gameday and not Lebeau , no?

I say bribe the other teams OL.

I say our DL's should go on the field with a well-worked plug of Red Man or Mail Pouch in their maws. :spit:
