Dave Wannstedt will announce today who will start at quarterback for the Dolphins against Indianapolis on Sunday, but it will be hard to send Brian Griese back to the bench after his debut against San Diego.
Griese, starting for the injured Jay Fiedler, completed 20-of-29 passes for 192 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Monday night's 26-10 victory.
The only thing that might hinder Griese is his right thumb, which was swollen after he banged it on a helmet during the game. Wannstedt said Tuesday the injury does not appear serious.
"I thought he played well," Wannstedt said. "What he did really good was he made good decisions, got rid of the ball and he was really into the game. He was verbal, he was communicating, he was really in tune to what they were doing and what we were trying to do."
Fiedler, who has a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee, was inactive and designated the No. 3 quarterback behind Griese and Sage Rosenfels. It is unknown whether Fiedler will recover in time for Sunday's game.
