A week ago, defensive tackle Sean Gilbert was working out but also pondering retirement.
A few phone calls later, and Gilbert is a member of the Oakland Raiders, wondering how soon it will be before he is ready to play in a game for the first time in more than a year.
"We'll just take it one day at a time," Gilbert said Tuesday night. "The sooner, the better, you know?"
Gilbert, 33, assumed the roster spot vacated by linebacker Bill Romanowski, who was placed on injured reserve last week because of repeated concussions.
