Cleveland Browns running back William Green pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana possession.

According to a police report, Green was arrested Monday after police received a cell phone call from a motorist reporting a possible drunken driver.

An officer found a bag of marijuana weighing 3.2 grams in Green's car.

If convicted of the DUI charge, Green could be put on probation or face up to a $1,000 fine and six months in jail. His license could be suspended for up to three years. The marijuana charge is a misdemeanor and carries a $100 fine.

A motorist called Westlake police Monday night to report an erratic driver and said: ``He's gonna kill somebody.''

``He'' was Browns running back William Green, who was arrested at 6:12 p.m. Monday night on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of marijuana. Green pleaded not guilty Wednesday morning.

Green was arrested after a Breathalyzer indicated he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.165 percent, more than twice the legal limit in Ohio (0.08 percent).

Cleveland running back William Green was suspended for one game by the Browns following his arrest last week on charges of driving under the influence and marijuana possession.

Green will sit out this Sunday's game at Kansas City, head coach Butch Davis announced after Monday's practice.

"It's a disappointing situation," Davis said.

The Browns' leading rusher was arrested Oct. 27, just a few hours after leaving the team's training facility, by Westlake, Ohio, police who pulled him over for driving erratically in his sports utility vehicle

The Browns may have violated the collective bargaining agreement by suspending running William Green after his arrest on charges of driving under the influence and marijuana possession.

CBSSportsline.com reported during the weekend that the agreement prevents teams from suspending a player because of an alcohol- or drug-related incident.

Browns coach Butch Davis suspended Green for the Kansas City game, costing him one week's salary, which is $17,647. Green also could face a four-game suspension from the NFL depending on whether he already was in the NFL's substance-abuse program.

Asked about the violation, Davis said, "We don't ever discuss anything that has to do with the players."
