    Westbrook won't play against Falcons

Brian Westbrook, the Eagles' leading rusher and kick returner, will miss Philadelphia's game at Atlanta on Sunday because of a sprained left ankle.

Westbrook was injured in the first half of last week's victory over the New York Jets. The second-year pro has 323 yards rushing, an average of 5.6 yards per carry and four rushing touchdowns. He has averaged 22 yards on kick returns and 14.6 yards on punt returns, including a game-winning 84-yard return for a TD in a 14-10 victory over the New York Giants on Oct. 19.

Rookie free agent Reno Mahe will return punts and wide receiver James Thrash will handle kick returns in Westbrook's absence.
