Webb visiting Dolphins today as possible patch for offense

With their offseason plans for the offensive line falling apart, the Dolphins now are in the difficult position of finding a left tackle off the street halfway through the season.

A day after rookie left tackle Wade Smith was exposed during a 23-17 loss to the Colts and with Mark Dixon headed to injured reserve, the Dolphins said they would bring in veteran Richmond Webb today after working out Bernard Robertson and Alex Sulfsted on Monday.

    Miami, Webb discuss return

The best-laid plans of the Dolphins have left them with a line full of holes and few ways to fix them.

In fact, in the aftermath of giving up a season-high five sacks to go with a season-low 43 yards rushing, the Dolphins searched their own history for some hope by bringing in Richmond Webb on Tuesday.

Not that the 36-year-old Webb, who hasn't played in more than a year since being hurt early last season with Cincinnati, or anyone else the Dolphins might sign, is expected to unseat rookie Wade Smith anytime soon

        No lineman signings for now

The Dolphins looked at all the possible additions to their offensive line and have decided to do nothing for now.

The team won't be signing Richmond Webb, Bernard Robertson, Alex Sulfsted or Kenyatta Jones -- the offensive linemen who are street free agents and available.

All had workouts with Miami in the past week, but none was overly impressive.
