if you havent seen him play, check out espn2 right now.. qb of the colorado st rams...

the kid has a cannon arm.. he has incredible feet.. and he is about 230 lbs, so when he starts running, he dont come down easy. and he is a tough guy in the kelly mold.

i love this kid.. have for a couple years.. he started out as a run first guy.. then they settled him down and last year he tried too hard not to run.. this year, he seems to have found the right mix..

he is a damn good qb. would love to see us grab him.

He was playing college kids ... Drew would look pretty smart against them too.

great for him.. problem is he DOESNT look pretty smart in the nfl.. he looks like ****... at least van pelt doesnt have a losing record and a proven track record of being a guy that cant get the job done during clutch time against good teams.. cuz that is what bledsoe has at this point.. only a mere ten years into his career.

i do feel bad for van pelt.. after he played so great under serious pressure all night.. to lose the game like that sucked bad..

he is a baller.. and we wouldnt have to spend a first or second on him.

By the end of the year there will be a lot more. Jump on the bandwagon now.

i dont know why you guys considered me such a huge bledsoe supporter?? show me a quote..

now i dont run around talking **** about the guy all the time.. i have always been more less indifferent about him.. i think he is either great or horrible.. and more times than not this season, he has been horrible..

but there was no corner to turn.. i have never been a "bledsoe lover"

i just get accused of it cuz i argue with wys.. lol

MOCK DRAFT: ROUND 1

PICK TEAM PLAYER POS SCHOOL
1 (1) Chargers Tommie Harris* DT Oklahoma
With Harris anchoring college football's best defense and the Chargers continuing in their downward spiral, this pick looks more likely each week. Harris has the explosion and quickness to penetrate the line and the speed to make big plays in the backfield. He also is strong and tough against the run. He would be a huge addition to San Diego's aging and oft-injured interior line.
2 (2) Jaguars Roy Williams WR Texas
The Jaguars are desperate for receiver help; using their first-round pick on a target for Byron Leftwich is a good idea. Williams, after working hard in the weight room during the offseason for the first time in his career, has been able to stay healthy and avoid the hamstring injuries that have bothered him in the past. No blue-chip underclassman receiver is better than this senior.
3 (3) Falcons Shawn Andrews* T Arkansas
Andrews, a junior, would be the first offensive lineman drafted. Massive with great strength, he is at his best in the running game and shows the footwork to excel in pass protection. He could play either right or left tackle in the NFL. The Falcons have needs at defensive back, defensive line and wide receiver but would be best served by adding a future Pro Bowl tackle to protect Michael Vick.
4 (4) Raiders Vince Wilfork* DT Miami (FL)
The Raiders simply will have to draft the best available prospect -- Wilfork -- with this pick. Wilfork, similar to the Bucs' Warren Sapp, is quick, active, and explosive and has been more consistent this season. Wilfork is more of a one-gap penetrator, but he requires double-team attention most of the time. Wilfork also should develop into an explosive interior pass rusher and would be a great addition for the Raiders' aging and hobbled defensive line.
5 (5) Steelers Ben Roethlisberger* QB Miami (O.)
Tommy Maddox doesn't have a long-term contract, and team officials look wise for not extending it. Eli Manning and J.P. Losman are also top quarterback prospects, but we think Roethlisberger will be the best pro out of the three. Roethlisberger is a fine athlete, and he has a strong arm, good size and great leadership skills. He could return for his senior season, but he would be a top-10 pick if he enters the '04 draft. If the Steelers don't turn around their season quickly, they could be picking this high.
6 (6) Jets D.J. Williams OLB Miami (FL)
The Jets must get younger and faster at linebacker and likely will spend their top pick on that position. Williams, a former running back, has improved his technique and is an exceptional athlete. He shows great range as a playmaker -- in coverage and against the run. He always is around the ball.
7 (7) Lions Kellen Winslow Jr.* TE Miami (FL)
Tight ends usually don't go this high, but Winslow is a rare talent. After witnessing Jeremy Shockey's and Todd Heap's impact, it would be tough to pass on Winslow here. He is by far the best receiving tight end in college and continues to improve as a run blocker. He has the potential to be better than his dad, Kellen Winslow Sr. -- considered to be the best to ever play the position. Winslow Jr. would be an explosive target for Joey Harrington and would help to take some attention away from Charles Rogers.
8 (8) Bengals David Pollack* DE Georgia
Pollack lacks ideal height but is quick, fast and powerful and has a nose for the ball. He instantly would upgrade any NFL team's pass rush and would be an ideal athlete opposite Justin Smith.
9 (9) Bears Randy Starks* DT Maryland
The Bears desperately need to improve their defensive line in the offseason, especially inside. Starks plays end in the Terps' 3-4 scheme but would be a perfect fit in the Bears' 4-3, because he is effective both as a one-gap penetrator and two-gap run plugger.
10 (10) Browns Robert Gallery T Iowa
The Browns' top offseason priority will be to solidify their offensive line. Gallery -- overshadowed by teammate Eric Steinbach (Bengals) last season -- is a big and athletic tackle with great potential. He is the top senior offensive line prospect and likely will be a top-15 pick.
11 (11) Cardinals Eli Manning QB Ole Miss
Manning, a senior, is a cut below past prospects such as Vick (Falcons) but is just as gifted as Joey Harrington (Lions) and Chad Pennington (Jets). Manning might not be as cerebral as his older brother Peyton, but he is more fiery, more athletic and a better leader. The Cardinals have needs everywhere, but if they have a chance to draft a franchise quarterback such as Manning, they should jump on it.
12 (12) Redskins Will Smith DE Ohio St.
Smith has played beyond expectations this season and is emerging as one of the clear-cut top-15 prospects in this class. He is a complete player with a great size and speed. He could be the nation's best all-around senior end, and the Redskins must get younger and more athletic at the position.
13 (13) Texans Vernon Carey G Miami (FL)
The Texans' top offseason priority is to upgrade the offensive line, and they will likely use their top pick to draft the highest-rated tackle or guard. Carey struggled through an ankle injury early in the season but has come on strong. He is the most dominating interior offensive lineman in the '04 class and also could play tackle.
14 (14) 49ers Reggie Williams* WR Wash.
Although the 49ers need to look at the top defensive line prospects in this class, Williams is clearly the best player available. And with so many questions about the futures of Terrell Owens and Tai Streets, it's not inconceivable that the 49ers would draft Williams here. There isn't much suspense about Williams' decision to leave Washington. He is the complete package, with size, speed and playmaking ability. Some scouts say he is the class' No. 1 receiver; we think he is a close second to Roy Williams. Regardless, Reggie Williams is a certain first-round pick and should start right away in the NFL.
15 (15) Saints Marlin Jackson* CB Michigan
Fred Thomas and Dale Carter are on the downside of their careers, so the Saints might be interested in Jackson, although he is a wild card because of his inconsistent play and off-field troubles. Jackson has been moved to free safety because of team needs at Michigan, but he could develop into an elite NFL corner. He has missed three games because of a leg injury, but it isn't a long-term concern.
16 (16) Buccaneers Antwan Odom* DE Alabama
The Buccaneers need to upgrade Greg Spires at left defensive end. Odom, who has great size and runs well, might be better off returning for his senior season so he can refine his skills, but his potential is limitless. He is likely to move up in the top 15 picks.
17 (17) Packers J.P. Losman QB Tulane
It's time for the Packers to address their future at quarterback. It's a strong possibility that the Packers might use a first-round pick on the position, and Losman could be a gem in what could be a strong quarterback class if some underclassmen leave early. Losman, a senior, has a strong arm and great size and is an underrated athlete. He would benefit from a year of learning under Brett Favre, but it won't be long before Losman will be an NFL starter.
18 (18) Giants Sean Taylor* S Miami (FL)
If Taylor leaves Miami early, he should be the first safety drafted. He is versatile -- he can play the run, can match up man-to-man on the slot and has great range in zone coverage. Taylor would replace Omar Stoutmire immediately at free safety.
19 (19) Bills Ben Troupe TE Florida
Troupe has emerged as the top senior tight end prospect after splitting time with Aaron Walker (49ers) the past two years. Troupe likely will be drafted later in the first round, but the Bills are desperate for a difference-maker at the position. Troupe isn't as explosive as Winslow, but he is a similar athletic pass-catcher who would help draw attention from the wide receivers and give Drew Bledsoe a legitimate threat in the middle of the field.
20 (20) Broncos DeAngelo Hall* CB Va. Tech
The Broncos have needs at defensive end, defensive tackle and cornerback, and they likely will draft the best available player at one of those three positions. Hall is the fastest cornerback -- and perhaps the fastest player overall -- in this class. He is a true shutdown cornerback in man-to-man coverage and also would instantly upgrade the Broncos' punt return unit.
21 (21) Patriots Jonathan Vilma ILB Miami (FL)
(from Baltimore) Vilma, though undersized, is a terrific athlete with rare speed. He is the second-best linebacker at Miami (behind D.J. Williams) but is the class' top inside prospect because of the knee injury to Oklahoma's Lance Mitchell. Vilma can start immediately in the NFL; the Patriots might need him right away if they move back to a 3-4 defense next season.
22 (22) Rams Dunta Robinson CB S. Carolina
The Rams need cornerback help. Robinson is a fast-rising prospect with good size, strength and tackling skills. He moved from safety to cornerback in '03 and continues to improve his coverage skills. He is a much better fit in a cover 2 or zone scheme. Robinson is a tough, aggressive and physical defender who can jam receivers at the line and support the run.
23 (23) Eagles Michael Clayton* WR LSU
The Eagles will be reluctant to draft a receiver in the first round, but they might not have a better choice. Clayton is intelligent enough to pick up coach Andy Reid's complex scheme and contribute immediately. Clayton is tall with good speed and great playmaking flair.
24 (24) Dolphins Rashaun Woods WR Oklahoma St.
Woods would be a good late first-round value, and the Dolphins could use help opposite Chris Chambers. Woods lacks elite speed and might never be more than a possession receiver, but he has good size and strong hands and is a terrific playmaker -- much like former Dallas Cowboys great Michael Irvin.
25 (25) Vikings Chris Gamble* CB Ohio St.
The Vikings' biggest need is at cornerback. Gamble, a great athlete and big-time playmaker, is a promising raw cornerback with good size. He hasn't had time to refine his skills because he spent too much time playing wide receiver and returning kicks in college.
26 (26) Panthers Lee Evans WR Wis.
The Panthers need another playmaker at receiver, and Evans could slip this far. Evans was a probable first-round prospect in '03 and surprised scouts by returning for a senior season. Even after two knee surgeries, he looks like he hasn't lost a step.
27 (27) Titans Karlos Dansby OLB Auburn
The Titans are getting by with two below-average linebackers in Peter Sirmon and Rocky Calmus. Dansby is active against the run, has ideal pass-rush speed and shows athleticism in coverage. He's versatile enough that the Titans might even be able to move him inside to replace Calmus, but at the very least he would be an upgrade over Sirmon outside.
28 (28) Seahawks Darnell Dockett DT Florida St.
The Seahawks can't go another season without adding a young defensive tackle, especially considering John Randle's age. Dockett had off-field issues that caused him to miss some time in '02, but he is having huge senior season.
29 (29) Cowboys Jacob Rogers T USC
Coach Bill Parcells wants to continue to upgrade his offensive line, and Rogers is his type of lineman. Rogers is an athletic college tackle who also can play guard. He continues to improve with experience and is rising up draft boards quickly.
30 (30) Patriots Greg Jones RB Florida St.
The Patriots might wait until the second round to draft a running back, because although there aren't any blue-chip backs in this class, there is a lot of depth. Jones has struggled a bit behind an inexperienced offensive line this year. He also lacks great pass-catching skills and had a knee injury as a junior last season, but we still think he is the best back in this class. He would be an upgrade over Antowain Smith, who has a similar running style.
31 (31) Colts Derrick Strait CB Oklahoma
This would be a perfect fit. The Colts' biggest weakness remains at cornerback, and Strait is best suited to play in a cover 2 scheme. Strait lacks elite man-to-man coverage skills and could fall out of the top 20 if several underclassmen leave school early. However, he is a good athlete with nice size and speed. He also is physical in both press coverage and against the run.
32 (32) Chiefs Claude Harriott DE Pitt
The Chiefs still have some holes to fill, despite their strong start. They could draft a wide receiver, defensive lineman or a cornerback with this pick. Harriott has faced constant double team attention and has only two sacks this season, but he is still one of the nation's best edge rushers and would bring some youth and speed to the Chiefs' much-improved defensive line. Drafting Harriott would allow the Chiefs to use a three-man rotation at end and move Eddie Freeman inside permanently as a situational pass rusher.

i will KILL someone if we draft schobels little brother.. here is a list of the top 10 DEs.. schobels little brother is so over hyped.. he is undersized (like aaron) and his numbers look good against weak competition at tcu.

1. Will Smith, 6-3, 260, Ohio State. Highly athletic pass rusher. Great flexibility and agility allows him to play very low. Has speed and strength. Is a complete player, with the ability to stop the run and a feel for rushing the passer.

2. David Pollack*, 6-2, 274, Georgia. Productive pass rusher who makes a lot of plays. Plays with energy and intensity. Is quick off the ball and moves well laterally. Gets good leverage. Doesn't have ideal height and isn't a great athlete.

3. Darrion Scott, 6-2, 271, Ohio State. Talented, versatile lineman who also can move inside. Has initial quickness and the moves to get up the field. Shows the strength to play against the run. Doesn't have ideal height.

4. Kenechi Udeze*, 6-3, 280, Southern California. Instinctive three-year starter who gets to the ball. Makes big plays and consistently plays with high effort. Has excellent quickness.

5. Bo Schobel, 6-5, 265, TCU. Rangy, long-armed pass rusher with quickness, speed and instincts. Finds the ball. Uses his hands well. Has good balance. Plays hard. Cousin of Bills defensive end Aaron Schobel and Bengals tight end Matt Schobel.

6. Antwan Odom*, 6-4, 278, Alabama. Has the upfield pass-rushing ability scouts look for. Has a nice frame. Plays with power. Is disruptive to offenses. Has a lot of off-field baggage.

7. Jason Babin, 6-2, 262, Western Michigan. Pass rusher with a good feel for getting to the quarterback. Is flexible and athletic. Uses his hands well. Has been highly productive against a lower level of competition. Can be engulfed by bigger blockers. Has some upside.

8. Claude Harriott, 6-3, 265, Pittsburgh. Speed rusher who can beat a tackle on the edge. Has good tools but is viewed as an enigmatic underachiever. Isn't having a great season. Is only average against the run.

9. Andrew Shull, 6-4, 261, Kansas State. Athletic defender with some speed and quickness. Is good in pursuit. Knows how to get by a blocker. Is better at rushing the passer than stopping the run. Doesn't make enough plays.

10. Isaac Hilton, 6-3, 244, Hampton. A developmental player with athleticism. Can run. Flashes some pass-rushing ability. Is inconsistent with his effort and production. Is light for an end but could be an outside linebacker in a 3-4.

He would probably be worth a 3rd rounder. From what I hear it's a deep draft this year.

There isn't a lot of teams in dire need of drafting a QB early this year.

There's 16 teams with young QB's that have no need for a 1st day pick.

New England, Jets, Cincy, Baltimore, Indianapolis, Houston, Jacksonville, Philly, Washington, Minnesota, Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans, Atlanta, Seattle, and St. Louis.

Tennessee, Giants, and Denver, and Tampa Bay with veteran QB's who will not be looking for a QB this year. That's 20 of 32 teams as of right now.

San Diego, Dallas, and Cleveland with younger QB's under contract that isn't a sure thing with their team. That leaves 9 teams left.

Arizona, Carolina, and Oakland are the top 3 teams that should be looking hard for a QB in the 1st or 2nd round. The time is now for these clubs. I wouldn't be surprised if all 3 of them use their 1st round pick on the Top QB's coming out this year.

That leaves these 6 teams with an older QB that either isn't producing or have a veteran QB that might be looking to groom a younger player to replace them in 2 years.

Buffalo, Miami, Pittsbugh, Kansas City, Green Bay, and San Francisco.

After Arizona, Oakland, and Carolina take their choice at QB the other 6 teams are the only ones you really need to worry about taking a QB on the first day of the draft.

We could probably pick up a good prospect in the 3rd or 4th round. I wouldn't even be against drafting 2 QB's to fight it out. Let the best one emerge and maybe you could end up trading the other one for a higher draft pick if they both prove worthy of playing time.

Van Pelt has been impressive but his system also helps him bumb his stats, but hes one hard nosed player. Would be a great 5th or 6th round pick. No way should we waste a 3rd rounder on him though.

I don't think Bo is bad I have seen a few of his games he is stronger and better against the run that Aaron is but I would rather get David Pollack from Georgia if we go DE in the first round.

I will kill someone if we draft a FREAKING TE in the first round next year. :madcurse:

19 (19) Bills Ben Troupe TE Florida
Troupe has emerged as the top senior tight end prospect after splitting time with Aaron Walker (49ers) the past two years. Troupe likely will be drafted later in the first round, but the Bills are desperate for a difference-maker at the position. Troupe isn't as explosive as Winslow, but he is a similar athletic pass-catcher who would help draw attention from the wide receivers and give Drew Bledsoe a legitimate threat in the middle of the field.

No kidding. Drafting a TE that early should be reserved for teams that are in need of a starter at that position. We may not have Ben Coates, Shannon Sharpe, or Pete Metzelaars, but Campbell has done well this year when given the opportunity to make plays.

He's rated well below Krentzel of oSU- I don't like that.
Krentzel is a good college QB- gutty and tough- but sucks as a passer.

If the Bills had a legitimate coach, this team would be a solid playoff contender. We have the talent at every position (except DE, and some holes in the OL) but even decent coaching can cover that. If the Perfect TE came along (Tony Gonzales type) I'd think about it, but unless a need position has been depleted in the draft, I'sd go for need.

Awwww Man I really hope not, that would totally Suck

Im thinking that maybe this list was made before the season based on what Jones did his junior year before the kneee injury, because he would completely dominate teams last year. This year Bowden hasnt used him as much, hes tried to go with a mix of speed and Power using Jones, Lorenzo Booker, and Leon Washington all at different points in the game. Thats why Jones' stats dont look all that great, but trust me he will make a GREAT RB in the pros.

Also another kid to look out for in two years is Leon Washington, once hes get some playing time he has an excellent mix of speed and power.

I think Miami will take an offensive lineman, due to the line getting
so banged up this year.. Plus they have Griese, and they seem happy with Griese.. Oakland might not take a QB either, Gannon will probably still be the starter and they have Toisopo(whatever his name is..) Buffalo should have a nice group of QB's to choose from in the draft..

i love this kid.. have for a couple years.. he started out as a run first guy.. then they settled him down and last year he tried too hard not to run.. this year, he seems to have found the right mix..

he is a damn good qb. would love to see us grab him.

He has impressed me every game I have ever seen him play, plus the money we save sliding him into alex's jersey keeps ticket prices down.
