All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

Who are some possible DE free agents at the end of this season??
I wish we still had Marcellus Wiley. I used to listen to games on the radio while driving back to Ann Arbor and you could just hear the excitement and enthusiasm in Van Miller's voice when that D was on the field. Those were good times.
A while ago, someone posted a list of possible free agents at the end of the season. From the list, I was able to target about 19 DEs and 11 Cs. There were some guards I noted also, but I don't remember how many. I don't have the list handy, but I am compiling as much info as I can on the players I have on that list. Once I have more info, I'll post who I think are the best choices to go after.
The thread about the possible free agents was just about a week or so ago. You should be able to find it through a search under 'free agents for next seaon' or something like that.

Originally posted by Rude American I wish we still had Marcellus Wiley. I used to listen to games on the radio while driving back to Ann Arbor and you could just hear the excitement and enthusiasm in Van Miller's voice when that D was on the field. Those were good times.
Don't forget tho Rude, it was Moulds or Wiley. Ya can't argue w/ our choice. But cap precluded retaining both.
Also, Wiley is good, but nowhere near the bucks he's making.
As to Kearse, this is exactly the type of player we want to avoid, but alas, the exact type of player that TD would sign. He won't come with value. He'll come with top dollar where the team taking him will have to hope that his play matches it.
What we need to look for are guys like Thornton last year. Guys who won't come at top dollar, although not inexpensively, and who are more of a "secret" than a proven, highly sought after commodity w/ a name in the NFL even before they ever took a snap. It's like brand names, you pay for the name. We want performance first, then name. Let them build the name here and let us have some value instead of constantly purchasing "names" and hoping, for whatever reasons, that the level of play matches. Adams, Dredsoe, Milloy, Spikes, McGahee, Winfield this year.
Good GMs, and this is why I argue that TD isn't good, good GMs find good players who come in under the radar, fit the system, and won't cost top bucks. TD's approach is to find the brightest spot on the radar screen, pay top bucks, and bring him in and "hope for the best", likely getting play that doesn't match the pay.
We can build a team this offseason, but not w/ moves like resigning Winfield, acquiring Bailey, signing Kearse.
We need to dump Blew and his $6M, rid ourselves of Adams assuming he's not hit, and make another move or two to free up some cap space that isn't worth the money being paid.
If I'm not mistaken however, some players that we should cut who won't be "cuttable", are Brown, Fletcher, Teague, and Posey. We can do better for less money in all of those positions.
Replace Donahoe with Modrak and fire the entire coaching staff!
wys.. i would not worry.. i dont think there is ANY WAY the titans let kearse go... i dont care about the cap space.. they will cut others. but he will be in TN next year.
Bailey is the same deal.
winstrom may be a huge signing.. he is a beast. but that would literally be 4 white DEs on our team.. that is entirely too many..
