With the writing on the wall beginning to look more like spray paint, players cannot help but wonder if Dick Jauron's days as coach of the Bears are numbered.
In the aftermath of a repugnant 12-10 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Jauron's future was discussed openly Monday afternoon in a dejected locker room.
"He's a great man, so you'd like to think the best for him,'' tight end Desmond Clark said, "but you know it's a business, and from everything that I hear, it's almost a foregone conclusion [he will be fired] unless we win the next six out of seven or seven out of seven. I'm quite sure he knows the situation. We all know the situation, but we can't control it.''
