    I thought

when a player gets waived the teams with priority can pick him up over other teams!

BrianH is reporting that the Dolphins and Eagles are the frontrunners for KJ!

    How can this be?

I don't think mid-season cuts have the same rules.

LOL!!! He has "connections" with a guy who runs a profootball "information" site similar to KFFL but much, much smaller. Hardly an inside source.

                  My favorite line-

Brian H- "The Bills have reached a verbal commitment with Lawyer Milloy"

Poster- "Then why are the Skins and Seahawks still interested?"

BH- "It's a VERBAL agreement- he's still taking offers"

The rule depends upon how many years a player has in the league. There are exceptions for retired players (i.e. Dieon F. Sanders)

And if a player doesn't want to play for a team, a team usually will not pick him up. He probably expressed via his agent what teams he was interested in. Brian probably just knows someone who knows his agent and is just expressing what the agent said.

He is also due a $2 million options bonus in 2005 and that will impact any club from claiming him on waivers.

                    According to ESPN:
If he is claimed by another team, he must report, since the trade deadline has passed. But because he is a "vested" veteran, he has the right to declare himself an unrestricted free agent after the 2003 season. If he is unclaimed by Wednesday, which is anticipated, then Johnson becomes free to sign with any team.
