    Giants sign backup corner

After a tryout yesterday inside the practice bubble at Giants Stadium, the Giants signed veteran cornerback Ike Charlton to fill the void left by multiple injuries to their defensive backfield.

To make room for Charlton on the roster, cornerback Will Peterson was placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Peterson, out with a stress fracture in his back, had hoped to return late this season, but the Giants could not hold his spot on the roster when another cornerback, Ralph Brown, went down in Sunday's 27-7 loss to the Falcons with a dislocated right shoulder.

Rookie Frank Walker will likely start this weekend in Philadelphia, with Charlton used in nickel or dime situations
