The Lions are probably going to claim him. So forget it.

"The Detroit Lions are expected to put in a claim for the Cleveland Browns' leading receiver Kevin Johnson, who was unexpectedly released on Tuesday.

The Lions have until 4 p.m. today to issue a claim for Johnson, who is on waivers. There are five teams ahead of the Lions who will be awarded Johnson if they put in a claim (it's the inverse order of team's records this season). The Oakland Raiders are first in line and the other teams ahead of the Lions are the Atlanta Falcons, San Diego Chargers, Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars. "

Maybe he doesn't want to play there, and they won't do it.

His choices would be-

1) Sit the season and become a FA in the offseason

2) Join the Lions, play ot the season, then because he is a "vested" Vet- can declare himself a FA when the season is over

3) Join the Lions, and have his contract picked up and honored by the Lions until it is over with.

Players claimed off waivers 24 hours after their release can't pick and choose who they will go to. That's why there are waivers- so the bottom teams have first dibs.

After 4 pm this afternoon, he becomes a FA if no one claims him

If KJ wants to see all of the 14 million he signed for with the Browns, he should take option #3. If he thinks going to FA might lower his price, then he would be smart to report to Detroit.

If he thinks he can get a raise (look at Milloy) he will take option 1 or 2.

Option 2 will pay him the most. Option 1 will cost him 400K for the remainder of this season, plus possibly lower his value in the offseason.
