"We'll emphasize the quick [passing] game and the run game," Williams said. "The big thing is emphasizing with [Bledsoe] that his teammates can help him make plays. We'll put the ball in their hands as fast as possible and let those guys make some plays. Even in the short, intermediate routes. We are not worried about taking the ball down the field unless we have that opportunity to, and we'll be more calculated with it."

Bills Team Report: Home cooking
Buffalo Bills Week 11 Team Report

(Sports Network) - The Buffalo Bills have squandered a 2-0 start with five losses in their last seven games, including back-to-back road losses to Kansas City and Dallas. However, the Bills will play four of their last seven games at home, beginning with Sunday's tilt versus Houston.

"It's really a long season," said Bills head coach Gregg Williams. "An injury here, an injury there, a tailspin by somebody that's out in front, or somebody getting hot and going on a run -- it happens every year. There really is an awful lot of the season left. We just have to get back on track."

The Bills' offense has been off-track since blowouts of New England and Jacksonville to open the season. Buffalo scored 69 total points in those two games but since has scored 80 points in its last seven games.

QB Drew Bledsoe, who was hurried constantly by the Dallas defense last week and finished with 104 passing yards and lost a pair of fumbles, has just three touchdowns in the last seven games and has more interceptions than touchdowns for the 2003 season (6-8).

"We played last year and there were many times when our offense had to bail our defense out," Williams said. "We'd give up 29 [points] and have to score 30 to win a ball game. Our defense is playing really solid right now. The special teams are playing really solid. Those two phases need to bail out the offense a little bit until they get kick-started again. We're really only one or two plays away from getting it rolling."

The Week 11 contest against the Texans is the first of three games the Bills have left against sub-.500 teams.

"We're pretty close to desperation mode," admitted Bledsoe. "We have got to start winning immediately."

While the Bills have not reached the end zone in two games, their scoring struggles date back to last season. After an MVP-caliber start last season, Bledsoe has been terrible. The Bills averaged 30 points a game in getting off to a 5-3 start in 2002. Since then, they have averaged less than 17 points per game.

Bledsoe fired 16 touchdown passes in his first eight games as a Bill. In the 17 games since, he has 14 touchdowns and has thrown 18 interceptions. Bledsoe was sacked 54 times last season, second only to David Carr's 76. While Houston has done a much better job of keeping Carr upright, Bledsoe has continued to get pounded. The Bills have allowed 26 sacks, tied for 28th in the league.

Williams said the Bills will run more underneath plays to get Bledsoe going and avoid sacks.
