In the midst of the considerable ebb and flow of the Falcons' 23-20 overtime loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Kurt Kittner's course was steady -- like a barrel going over Niagara Falls. Problem was, he took his team with him.
Warrick Dunn rushed for 162 yards, and Atlanta's defense was wonderful in the first half while registering four of its seven sacks, returning one interception for a touchdown and another to set up a 5-yard scoring "drive."
That, as it turned out, was about all the driving Atlanta did, as Kittner completed just eight of 27 passes for 80 yards and threw two lethal second-half interceptions. His passer rating was a microscopic 8.7, which had a seismic effect on the game.
