Team Captain Ryan Gauthier and his 27 teammates have been suspended by the school until 2007. "We weren't expecting a four-year suspension," Gauthier told Action News.

The team was caught when a campus officer drove by a house on Pearl Street on the Ypsilanti campus on September 12. There, the officer
saw some of the players outside - a police report says they were drunk, and wearing dresses.

If they are drinking -especially underage- they should get a suspension if it's against team rules.


But 4 years? That's stupid. They better suspend a lot of students for that ;length of time, not just hockey players

That had to be a typo...a 4 year suspension??...could they have meant 2004...like Jan 1, 2004, hence, a 6 week suspension?

It's just a hockey club, not a Varsity sports team. The suspension was for hazing and was so harsh due to previous infractions. Don't you guys read the whole story?

Let's see my freshman year of college hockey we all had to sit in the middle of the locker room while the seniors shaved our heads in "creative" designs, and then you couldn't wear a hat around campus, if you got caught with a hat by a senior, they kept your hat and you paid for it BIG TIME at the next hockey party.

We had to drink shots that the seniors had poured down their ass cracks and eat more disgusting stuff than I can even remember. We were forceed to go make naked snow angels in the front yard on numerous occasions.

Did anyone scream Hazing?? HELL NO!!! it was part of becoming a new member to the team, we paid our dues took the jokes and counted our days til it was our turn!

this PC crap is getting out of hand!

I could see if they had sexually assaulted them or made them do life threatning things, but dresses and beer cost them 4 years..get a grip!
