Giants strong safety Shaun Williams apparently is headed for surgery on his right knee that might end what has been a disappointing season for him. He told reporters as he left Giants Stadium yesterday that no final decision had been made, but a teammate said Williams told him earlier that an MRI revealed cartilage damage.
Williams had only a slight limp, but he clearly was unhappy and admitted the prognosis was not good. "I just want to talk to coach [Jim] Fassel and see what the situation is [before commenting]," he said.
The injury occurred late in Sunday's loss to the Eagles, but Williams was not sure on which play.
