Colts add insurance, sign receiver Dawson

The uncertain status of injured receivers Marvin Harrison and Troy Walters prompted the Colts to sign free agent receiver JaJuan Dawson on Tuesday.

"I'm happy to be here," Dawson said in a phone interview from his Indianapolis hotel room. "I've been working out and staying in good shape. I'm familiar with the offense and (quarterback) Peyton Manning."

Dawson, like Manning a Louisiana native, has worked out at the quarterback's off-season passing camp. The 6-1, 197-pound receiver out of Tulane has played three NFL seasons, the first two in Cleveland and last year in Houston.

He's played in 30 games, starting four times, and has 52 catches for 664 yards and two touchdowns.
