    Upshaw comes to Raiders' aid

    Embattled defensive tackles Dana Stubblefield and Chris Cooper trotted out to the Raiders' practice field Wednesday, which meant they still remain members of the team in good standing. But with the threat of a four- game suspension looming over the two, as well as over teammates Barret Robbins and Bill Romanowski, for what the NFL alleges were positive steroid tests, the cavalry arrived in Alameda in the guise of Gene Upshaw.

    The former Raider and current NFL Players Association executive director met with the four accused players following the team's afternoon practice, in addition to addressing the entire team, outlining the union's objection to the re-testing of the players' samples, sources said, and making himself available to listen to player concerns.
