Quarterback Jay Fiedler's return to the football field couldn't have come at a better time for the Dolphins.
Invigorated by his entry late in the third quarter, Fiedler orchestrated a 13-point comeback in the final 10:24 as the Dolphins posted a 24-23 victory Sunday over the Washington Redskins before 73,578 fans at Pro Player Stadium. The win marked the Dolphins' largest fourth-quarter comeback since the team overcame a 16-0 deficit in a 21-16 victory over New Orleans in September, 1980.
Considering the difficulty of their remaining schedule, starting with Thursday's game in Dallas (8-3), the Dolphins couldn't have afforded a loss to Washington and remained a strong playoff contender. The Dolphins (7-4) now find themselves a game ahead of Denver, Baltimore and Cincinnati for the sixth-best record in the AFC and largely have Fiedler to thank.
