Running back Emmitt Smith won't start but will play Sunday against the Chicago Bears, Cardinals coach Dave McGinnis said Monday.
"Emmitt will be up and active and carrying the ball this weekend," McGinnis said.
Smith hasn't played since suffering a fractured left scapula Oct. 5 in Dallas. He practiced last week but was inactive against St. Louis.
His return to health comes at a good time for the Cardinals, McGinnis said, because Marcel Shipp is battered from a heavy workload.
Over the past five games, Shipp has averaged almost 24 carries per game.
