Bettis admits this may be his last season as a Steeler

If the Bus ride is coming to the end here, then Jerome Bettis would like it to be a memorable one. He admitted yesterday for the first time publicly that this could be his final year with the Steelers, but added that other matters are more important to him for the next five games.

"The possibility exists," said Bettis, the NFL's 10th all-time rusher. "But that's something I really don't concern myself with now because we're in the midst of trying to get to the playoffs."

Bettis, who began the season on the bench behind Amos Zereoue, took over the Steelers' rushing lead Sunday when he ran for a season-high 93 yards on 24 carries in a 13-6 victory in Cleveland. But his 406 yards are emblematic of the Steelers' problems in the ground game, where they rank 31st in the NFL and are on pace for their worst production in 34 years.
