There is a charity golf event in town this week that is causing a lot of controversy. Wayne Gretzky and Friends is to be played on the yet to be open, Nicklaus designed Northern Bear Golf Club. The event features Brett Hull, Jerome Iginla and Wayne Gretzky challenging Mike Weir in a best ball tournament.

It is the condition of the course that is the center of controversy. We have had a drought in Alberta for the past few months and the course is in impeccable shape. They have almost drained the surrounding lakes getting the course in shape and the near-by farmers are up in arms about it.

What are all the new golf courses doing to the enviroment? Should restrictions be in place for everybody?

I saw that on the CBC news the other day. The poor farmer next door to the course has had his pond where he normally waters his cattle dry up & the small lake across the road is 1/2 dried up, so his cows get stuck in the mud trying to get to the water.

They interviewed the golf couse owner & he's like "well, if we stop watering, then thery'll be no money for charity." Frickin moron!

I think the farmer should sue the golf course owner's ass off.

that's pathetic.. the farmer can't water his stock - but the golf course can empty a pond to ensure a green course. Talk abut things being backwards. :shakeno:

When the golf tourney is over, then let the cows graze there. Not before.

Sorry, I never liked Gretzky...he never could defend himself on the ice and there is no way he can defend himself this time!!
