Off Season Look from my prospective

    Black Monday:
    GW, KG get canned

    weeks later:
We hire Lovie Smith to be Head Coach of the Buffalo Bills. He comes in and promises lots of things, yadda yadda yadda, the usual press confrence promises.

He keeps JG on a DC, and promotes Steckel to OC. LeBeau leaves town for another HC job.

    Free Agency:
    OT Matt Stinchcomb
    OC Damien Woody

    Draft:
    1. S Sean Taylor, Miami
Some people believe hes a better safety than Roy Williams, his stock is sky rocketing but the teams ahead of us have a lot more needs than FS, so I think he will fall to us if we stay in the top 15.

    2. DT Chad Lavalais, LSU
Kid is simple a beast, in every game Ive seen him play in hes been all over the backfield disrupting RB's and QB's. Hes come out of nowhere to have a monster year.

    3a.OG Chris Kemoeatu, Utah
Nasty bugger, whose got a big body to back it up. Strong run blocking, a real road grader. A guy id like to see Sapp go up against with his big mouth.

3b. QB Josh Harris, Bowling Green
This years Donovan McNabb? Thats what many scouts are saying about Josh Harris, he has all the tools needed to be a succesful NFL QB. Hes bulked up and is willing to check down his receivers without taking off.

    4. WR Johnnie Morant, Syracuse
Star receiver from Syracuse. Has had some off the field and concentration problems but has all the tools to be a star in this league someday. I think he could come in and immediately challed Shaw and Reed for the #3 spot on this team.

    5. DE Nathanial Adibi, Va Tech
Can you say KGB? This kid is in almost the exact same mold. Hes simply explosive off the edge. Doesnt appear like he'll be able to be an every down DE, hes only 6'3 so hes a little small but hey so is Dwight Freeney. I like him alot.

    6. OLB Kendyll Pope, FSU
One of the most productive LB's to come out of FSU since Sam Cowart. Not fast but is instinctively quick. He reads plays exaceptionally well and can catch RB's in the backfield. He could one day replace Posey.

    7. WR Derek Adney, Kentucky
A star Punt Returner. Has had a total of 6 career returns for TD's and Kentucky fans love him he can also catch the ball which is nothing short of just good depth.

There you have it. We already have alot of the talent in place for our team, thats why I didnt choose to pick up a major FA (Kearse, Warner, Brunell, Hicks) All these guys are gonna command big money especially the DE's b.c the draft has alot of projects in it. I think with these additions we could be a playoff team. Comments?

Individually I like your moves, but the lack of acquiring another receiving threat worries me.

Regardless of the emphasis we put on the run next year, Moulds is our only proven legitimate receiving option ... I don't think that's a recipe for going far in the playoffs.

Add a free agent receiver (or TE) and I like your ideas.

Where did we get 2 3rd rounders?

Don't sat Gary trade- that was only if he met performance expectations- and he didn't.

And we lost a pick in the Cambell trade.

You and I both like Taylor as the first pick. In all probability, he won't fall to us in the middle of the first round. He's someone that I wouldn't mind to see us trade up to get though. To me, he's more a can't miss prospect than Will Smith is at DE.

Your next 2 picks are good too. I have been touting Kemoeatu's praises for the past month and I feel we will be able to get him in the third.

As for 4-6, I don't know. I don't know if Morant or Adibi will make it out of the third round (if so, it would be a surprise). Morant would probably be higher were it not for injury concerns. Also, if Pope's shoulders (both were operated on) have healed and the scouts feel he's okay, he'll be gone in the 2nd or 3rd as well. I'd rather see us go after Maurice Jones of South Florida at LB anyway. He's also cat quick, agile, and, more importantly, healthy. I don't know much about Adney yet, so I'll take your word that he's a solid choice in the 7th.

Yeah, kinda like I've been campaigning for Chris Kemoeatu of Utah for OG. He would be ideal for a power running game.

I think that compensatory pick from Gary is anywhere from 5th to 7th, depending on Gary's results this season. I estimated a 7th in my mock.

What FA would you like? Dennis Northcutt? Wast of money IMO. Hed be our 4th and for his price hes a waste. Improvement on the line, a solid coaching scheme, and a new year I think helps us to get a more accurate view of what are WR situation is. Each has had glimpses this year, as has Campbell and Neufield. I think our core is good, there are no good WR in FA worth the money it would take to get a #2 WR in here. We can all dream of TO but lets be reasonable, SF is gonna franchise him.

With the strong top heavy WR class this year alot of teams that have that as a need will take them earlier allowing for border round players to fall. Case in point Josh Reed. Adibi is a solid DE but hes nothing more. It would be a shock to me if he goes in round 3. With the DE class being so weak I dont expect to see alot of them picked early. I know it sounds like I just contradicted myself but the draft is so confusing as it has to do with diffrent posistions.

i was under the impression that we had 2 3rd rounders, one from the gary trade.. so it may have been me that misrepresented that originially.. my bad.

i like the draft alot.. except for a couple things..

i think taking 2 receivers is a mistake.. i could see adding one.. either FA or Draft.. but we dont need two. t.. right now.. moulds, reed, shaw, aiken, are all locks to make this roster.. and then we have room for one more.. if we draft a kid and he is a stud, then he bumps coleman off.. so be it.. or if we bring in someone like darrell jackson or northcutt (who is a playmaker.. i do like northcutt alot).. but if we bring in two guys, then aiken gets bumped and that is too much for me.. we have to give the kid a chance.

                        you addressed the line well.

i am starting to believe (pending the rest of the season) that either mcgee or thomas will be ready to take over winfields spot next season... if winfield demands too much money.. td will let him go... i hope we keep him.. but i am starting to think we may not need to if the money can be used someone else wisely.

you know my beef with harris.. vs rivers

This team is a couple of players away from having a great D. If you depend on the draft, he will be another project. I say get a DE who can make an immediate impact.

Which DE is that? Kearse? Yea he'll make an impact for about 3 weeks till he hurts himself. Hicks? He'll make a quiet one if that. Will Smith? Rookie and they dont usually make big impacts immediately until few years later.

Well added Adney on there b.c right now we are getting no PR yards. It could b.c of blocking but who knows anymore. Adney is a PR specialist, and his blocking has not always been the greatest at UK. As for Jackson I doubt he leaves, I dont see why your so high on Northcutt hes done nothing special, he seems to be a poor mans Bobby Shaw. Also remeber that if we bring in 2 WR's. We will probably bump Coleman and Simonton not Aiken. Just my thoughts, unless Sam really sucks it up.
