One day after the Jets' most humiliating loss of the season, if you can believe it, their plight took a turn for the worse.
The Jets haven't made it official yet, but John Abraham is out for the season.
Don't count on the Jets' defensive end, who's been voted to two consecutive Pro Bowls, playing another down this year because of the strained groin that has already caused him to miss five of the last six games.
The Jets, who yesterday downgraded Abraham to "out" on the injury report from the "doubtful" he'd been declared the last two weeks, were holding out some hope that the injury would improve enough to allow Abraham to return for next week's game against the Patriots.
But two things occurred to thwart those hopes.
First, the injury was not progressing in the positive way the trainers hoped.
And second, the Jets' lackluster 17-6 loss to the Bills on Sunday essentially eliminated them from the playoff hunt, so it makes little sense more (http://www.nypost.com/sports/jets/43658.htm)
