Streetsweeper finds Lions QB paycheck
A streetsweeper cleaning the parking lot of a Farmer Jack supermarket found a lot of bread -- in the form of Detroit Lions quarterback Mike McMahon’s paycheck.
Walter Abercrombie told WJBK-TV in Detroit that he found a check for $13,573 lying against a curb in the parking lot of the store in this suburb north of Detroit. The check had McMahon’s name and Social Security number on it and Lions president Matt Millen’s signature.
It was unclear exactly when Abercrombie found the check.
Abercrombie and his wife tried to contact the Lions, but failed. The television station, however, was able to reach a representative who said the team was aware the check had been lost and had been canceled, but the Lions would still like it to be returned.
The third-year quarterback started four games for Detroit in 2002.
