Play to Win? For the Draftniks....

Thses aren't in NFL order. Teams are grouped by number of wins. Approximate current draft order:

    1. Atlanta (3)
    2. Arizona (3)
    3. San Diego (3)
    4. Cleveland (4)
    5. Jacksonville (4)
    6. Oakland (4)
    7. NY Giants (4)
    8. Detroit (4)
    9. Pittsburgh (5) SD, at Baltimore
    10. Houston (5) Tenn, Indy
    11. Washington (5) at Chicago, Philadelphia
    12. Jets (6) NE, at Miami
    13. Chicago (6) Washington, at KC
    14. SF (6) at Philly, Seattle
    15. Buffalo (6) Miami, at NE
    16. New Orleans (7) at Jax, Dallas
    17. Tampa (7) Atlanta, at Tennessee

The teams with 5 wins will split at best, leaving them 6-10
The teams with 7 wins look like they'll split too.

There is no real advantage to losing or winning both of the next two games. We're pretty much stuck in the 12-15 range.

I disagree. I'd rather get one spot better in the draft than win both games.

The relevance of draft position (whether Buffalo drafts 12th or 15th) depends on the need and draft boards of the teams that are ahead of you (obviously). Sometimes the team right ahead of you will pick the player you were hoping for. More often, I think, the variation in team needs and draft boards from team to team means the teams directly ahead of you is going to take a player you are not interested in. If you consider a larger group of teams ahead of you, the odds go up that one of them will pick someone you were really interested in. Sorry if all of that is too obvious for you.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

All I was trying to say is that win or lose our last 2 games really doesn't change where we'll be very much.

                The 5 win teams:

Say Pittsburgh splits to go 6-10. The other 2 will lose both their games to go 5-11. For sure, there will be at least 11 teams ahead of us, with Pittsburgh tied with us if we lose both.

                The 7 win teams:

each should win at least one (if not both) of those games to finish behind us.

That leaves us between 11-15 no matter what we do.

if everyone below us wins their last two games, and we lose both.. we might get taylor.

I'll be home for the game this week and as much as I'd like a better draft position I hope we beat the hell out of the phins. It's sold out and it's our biggest rival. Let's ruin it for them now. Hopefully the stadium's still rockin even though we'll be watching other teams come playoff time.

I was agreeing with you, pretty much, EE. I was disagreeing with LOG on this one.
