Keith Magnuson, a rough-and-tumble defenceman regarded as one of the Chicago Blackhawks' all-time greats, was killed in a three-car accident near Toronto on Monday, the NHL team announced.
He was 56.
Magnuson played for Chicago from 1969-80 and coached the team for 11 1/2 seasons. He was riding with former Toronto Maple Leafs captain Rob Ramage, Blackhawks spokesperson Jim DeMaria said.
Ramage was injured in the accident.
