All that smack talk from Week One is such a distant memory and not only players got into it. I believe your joke GM's exact quote was "They thought Drew Bledsoe was washed up too...."
Guess what - he is - since 1998 - too bad your genius GM was the only front office guy who didn't know that. Remember anyone other than Donahoe banging down the Pats door after SB 36?
Why do you suppose our REAL genius GM signed Bledsoe to such a cap friendly "cut him loose if we have to" contract in 2001? He knew that for only so many years could we justify the same excuses: "If only he had a better offensive coordinator". "If only he had a better offensive line." "If only _______ wasn't hurt / was re-signed."
Do those sound familiar Bills fans? Get used to it for the next couple years. I do see from the latest poll on this site though that about 55% of you are still in denial. By next year that'll be down to 10%, but hey, 10% of Pats fans still make excuses for him too.
Drew Bledsoe is the only guy who can ace the Wonderlic but still be a complete dope at the same time. And before you say "He brought you guys to a SB in '96" I can tell you that Parcells had him playing "not to lose" in the playoffs that year - he led nothing. In our two playoff wins that year our offense put up less than 20 points, and that was with a future hall of fame RB.
Lawyer Milloy on the other hand has some gas left in the tank - but remmeber, much like 2002 was Bledsoe's "revenge year, don't expect the same production from Milloy next year.
Have Bills fans identified any Pats castoffs they would like for next season? We have a punter that Donahoe is probably salivating over. LOL
If you're wondering what go me riled up, I read this and it brought back memories:
