Quarterback Drew Bledsoe lead the Buffalo Bills into a shoot out with Rich Gannon and the Raiders for just over three quarters. Unfortunately that falls short of regulation time. Both teams took most of the first quarter to get warmed up, and the Bills took the entire quarter to finally be on the positive side in rushing yards.


Once both teams did get into rhythm, you knew it was going to be a long day at "The Ralph." Trading scores like two heavyweight fighters trade punches, the scoring kept coming. Gannon threw a left, Bledsoe came back with a right. The Bills' defense couldn't hold off the Raiders' early attack. Before half-time could stop the blows, Buffalo hit back hard. Within 52 seconds, offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride devised a 98-yard scoring drive to tie the game at 21 apiece. Even if the teams' defenses were ranked number one and two in the league, it wouldn't have made the difference.
