Bills $7.5 million under but that doesn't include any cap adjustments and it also probably handles Bledsoe's bonuses differently than I do

Miami: $9.48 million over :snicker:

I'm very scared of Baltimore being $24 million under. That team made the playoffs this season and will have plenty of dough to shop for next season.

clumping, didn't you say last year that our cap space for this year would be even better then it was last year? I thought it was supposed to be closer to $20 million.

Clump, Being the cap expert that you are and knowing that you also frequent TBD, could you address my post on the long term impact of DB's contract. I posted it earlier today.

Thanks!

The most I said was $15 million but then the Bills signed Milloy and extended Mark Campbell and then we find out about Ruben's $1.8 million roster bonus, so any early estimates are always conditioned on nothing happening in between.

I will when I get to work tonight.

Okay, is this $7 or $8 million including the expected raise in the salary cap? And does it have Bledsoe's contract only for 6 million or more? :feedback:

they probably have fewer players under contract than most UNDER teams. the bills have many players under contract and are still in good cap shopping shape. the ravens will want to sign mcalister and i think boulware is due as well. they also need to resign their center and i believe there are a few others. so that'll take a nice big ol bite out of their cap.

I wonder if this number includes Bledsoe's November roster bonus?

I believe it does

Does that entire bonus go on this years cap or is it spread out?

It's an option bonus. It counts like salary until either exercised or not. Once exercised, it's spread out over 2004-2006 at $2.333 million/season. If not exercised, then Bledsoe plays 2004 at $6 million, gets a $2 million buyout, and becomes UFA after the season

So right now he is taking up 13 million on our cap?

I believe that to be the case :(

Wow, 13 million!!! He sure didn't look like a 13 million QB this season.

Clump if they extend his contract in November, does the 13 millio against the cap drop by the spreading the bonus over the remaining years? So that in November the cap situtation improves?

If so, that would seem to have been an odd thing to do in negotiating his contract....you would expect to want cap space during free agent signing periods and not in November.

We could do a TON with $13 million in cap space. He's gotta be released if he won't take a paycut!

AVP is too brittle to take over for Drew. And Travis Brown is underexperienced....that final throw in the NE game didn't look like it came from a promising starter.

That would mean a pick up of a free agent or a draft pick that could step in and start. Without a head coach and next OC in place it is pretty hard to imagine a replacement for Drew next year.

If it meant going with AVP or TB I would not be for cutting Bledsoe either.

It would make no sense to wait until November to renegotiate. This has to be cleared up, preferably before 2/1.

Agreed. And TD is too smart to let $13 mil for one guy go against the cap.

That probably would be the amount he would count against the cap in a renegotiated contract, imo.

Is that total a total of the top 51?? Buffalo has 47 players under contract (52 with the practice squad guys)

BTW, how many players does Miami have under contract for next year??

Did you also include the contracts for the following?

Myers
Bonner
Byrd
Trafford
Porter

nflpa.org does not have them as signed for 2004

Practice squad players are not automatically under contract and are considered FAs with salary limited to number of years of experience. However, Ourlads has transferred them to the off-season roster. I'll wait until they are listed on NFLPA before I include any
